Don't Just Buy The Technology

Don't misunderstand, we love technology.
In our profession we couldn't do without many of the amazing "toys" we utilize to create a beautiful finished product. However, a special event is not an engineering meeting. It is the place where Art & Technology embrace.

Technology provides us with tools. Tools, however, are limited by the skill and artistry of those weilding them.
I may be able to buy a $10,000 surgical scalpel but if you needed emergency surgery you would be better served by a world class surgeon with a butter knife. Such is the limitation of tools.

Great cameras and audio tools are also not enough. Even if one knows how to use them properly. If this were not true, "Saving Private Ryan" and "Rambo" would be movies of equal quality. That certainly isn't the case.

Artistry. This is the missing component. Composition, framing, shot selection, editing choices, all these thing go into making a truly moving movie of your event. Don't get caught buying just the technology. You deserve more.
